DAHLONEGA -- No. 19 University of North Georgia (UNG) rifle junior Maya Cameron has been announced as the Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the week after a standout performance in the 2025 Southern Conference (SoCon) Championship last weekend.

Cameron headlined UNG's performance in the SoCon Championship last weekend as she qualified for the individual finals in both Smallbore and Air Rifle disciplines.

On Saturday, Cameron posted a 578 in Smallbore to lead the way for the Nighthawks and finish in fifth place overall to qualify for the individual finals. She would finish in seventh out of eight competitors in Smallbore.

On Sunday, Cameron shot a 591 in Air Rifle to lead UNG and finish in sixth overall and qualify for the finals once more. Cameron again finished in seventh out of eight competitors in the individual Air Rifle Championship.

On the overall aggregate leaderboard, Cameron finished sixth to lead the Nighthawks with a total score of 1,169 points.

This is Cameron's third time earning the Nighthawk of the Week Award and her first since 2022.

The Nighthawk of the Week title sponsor is Chick-fil-A of Dahlonega, with each week's winner being treated to a complimentary combo meal at the Dahlonega restaurant. Located at 488 Morrison Moore Parkway East, Chick-fil-A loves to give back to the local area and is proud to be a community partner with UNG Athletics.

Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
